Dear Friends,
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank all of you for your support and dedication in making this year’s “Platinum and Pearls” Gala such a success! The evening was very special as we celebrated two great milestones. The twentieth anniversary of the Friends’ Gala and the thirtieth anniversary of the Stehlin Foundation! From a fundraising point of view, this was the most successful Friends’ event ever, raising approximately $1,030,000 to support the groundbreaking research of the Stehlin Foundation. Through the very generous contributions of SuperGen, Inc., Rhonda and Jim Harris, Golfers Against Cancer, and all of our individual donors, we not only met but exceeded all of our fundraising goals!
Throughout this past year, we have been continuously amazed at the commitment
and creativity of the Friends and our wonderful, dedicated committee of volunteers. We certainly could not have achieved the same amount of success without their time and input. We also would not have enjoyed the same success if not for the involvement of our most worthy honorees, Leslie and Kim Wheless. These two extraordinary people have touched so many lives in amazing ways. As friends and colleagues, our lives have been deeply changed by them. Leslie and Kim’s shared life was a celebration of love, vitality and courage. Leslie “graduated” to be with her Lord on Friday, January 19, 2001. We honor the legacy Leslie leaves with us, and hold fast in our faith of seeing her again one day, living life healed and whole. Lastly, we would like to thank Dr. Stehlin and all of the staff from the Stehlin Foundation for their contribution in making this a memorable evening and for continuing their valiant efforts in finding a cure for cancer. We look forward to seeing all of you again on October 20th, at the 21st Annual Friends of the Stehlin Foundation Gala!
