Cancer League
Extravaganza Benefits Stehlin Foundation
The Cancer League benefiting cancer research institutions,
held the 22nd Christmas Extravaganza and raised $25,000 for
the Stehlin Foundation. The celebration was held Dec. 8 at
the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
This years Christmas Extravaganza provided a festive,
Las Vegas show for participants. The high-energy event included
appearances from Santa and Mrs. Claus, Christmas elves, Elvis
and showgirls. Former Charlies Angels star Jaclyn Smith
supported the Cancer Leagues effort, which also included
a fashion show.
The Cancer League is committed to supporting cancer
research and related advances taking place in Houston,
said Dorace Allais, Cancer League founder. The Stehlin
Foundation has been a beneficiary since the first Extravaganza
and we are delighted to contribute more this year.
The Cancer League has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars
to the Stehlin Foundation over the past 22 years. Inspired
by Dr. Stehlins patient care philosophy, the group also
became dedicated volunteers in the cancer unit at St. Joseph
Hospital. They brought in bands to play for patients, painted
the walls of the cancer unit and created the Sunshine Cart.
Volunteers push the Sunshine Cart and provide patients with
items such as toothpaste, books and candy.
