On Saturday,
Oct. 25 at the InterContinental Hotel, the 23rd annual Friends
of the Stehlin Foundation Gala will be a fun-filled evening
to raise funds for cancer research.
Each year, an amazing group of volunteers, the Friends of
the Stehlin Foundation, cancer survivors, friends and loved
ones, pull out all the stops for the Foundation’s
largest single fundraising event.
Who better to introduce this year’s gala theme, And
The Beat Goes On, than the legendary singing duo, Sonny
and Cher? Decked out in sassy ‘70s attire, gala chairs
Donna and Norman Lewis unveiled the gala’s psychedelic
theme and feature entertainment at the home of Sueanne and
Randy Nichols in May.
This year’s event features entertainment by The Big
Bang Beat. Known as “the ultimate party machine,”
The Big Bang Beat will perform hit songs from the past and
present and is sure to have party goers dancing and singing
along.
Gala planning started in April and will continue through
September. At each meeting, Friends reconnect and hear updates
from doctors and researchers at the Stehlin Foundation.
“The Friends of the Stehlin Foundation have been personally
touched by cancer,” explains Donna Lewis. “The
work of dedicated researchers and doctors at the Stehlin
Foundation means everything to us.
Although the fun has a serious purpose, Donna Lewis also
emphasizes the gala is all about having a good time. “I
can’t think of a group of people who know how to throw
a party better than this one!”
Since 1981 the Friends have contributed over $7 million
to support
groundbreaking research that has improved treatment for
people with cancer.
Please join the Friends in honoring doctors and researchers
who inspire hope at And The Beat Goes On, the 23rd
annual Friends of the Stehlin Foundation Gala on Saturday,
October 25, 2003 at the InterContinental Hotel, 2222 West
Loop South in Houston.
Proceeds from this event will help support the Foundation's
on-going drug development and Educational Scholarship Program.
