Changing the event name and location are only two surprises
the Friends of the Stehlin Foundation and new co-chairs,
the Young Texans Against Cancer (YTAC) have up their sleeves
for the 24th Annual Stehlin Gala.
The Friends, giving 23 years of hard work and beautiful
galas, have teamed up with the YTAC to bring a fresh and
unique approach to this year’s event. The YTAC will
co-chair another incredible gala evening to help raise money
for the Stehlin Foundation’s
cancer research.
“Working with the Friends on the upcoming gala provides
the YTAC with a fun and different opportunity to be involved
in the fight against cancer,” said Erin Fowler, 2004
gala co-chair. “Anticipation and excitement is building
among the YTAC. Everyone is enthused to be part of a magical
evening to raise money for the Stehlin Foundation’s
cancer research.”
The benefits of the Friends and YTAC partnership are two-fold.
First, the Stehlin Foundation will be introduced to a younger
member base. As a second benefit, by working with the Friends,
YTAC will have the opportunity to learn how to plan and
execute a gala while staying true to their mission of raising
funds to help support small and medium sized research organizations.
Established in May of 2001, Houston based YTAC is a non-profit
organization with more than 300 men and women, who have
been touched by cancer and seek to raise funds for small,
quality cancer research organizations. In 2002, the YTAC
presented the Stehlin Foundation with a check for $5,000
to aid cancer research.
“The Friends are extremely excited to be working with
a group of such devoted and accomplished young philanthropists,”
said Nancy White, gala co-chair. “We were thrilled
when our daughter became a YTAC member earlier this year.
The fight against
cancer and search for a cure is an important cause to us
and we were delighted to see our devotion blossom in her
life as well.”
Gala chairs for this inaugural year include Friends members;
Tim and Nancy White and YTAC members; Erin Fowler, Ashley
Morgan and Catie Pagel.
With an undisclosed gala theme, the Friends and YTAC Gala
will be held on Nov. 6, 2004 at the Hilton Americas Hotel
downtown.
