Stehlin "Friends" Gala Raised Far Out Figures
 |
Dear Friends,
The opportunity for us to chair the 2003 Friends of the
Stehlin Foundation Gala represented for us another chance
to give back to the people who have meant so much to both
of us over the past 23 years. Participating in the first
Friends group gathered by Mike Meagher in 1980, we had the
thrill of chairing the 5th annual gala featuring Chuck Berry
in 1985. The following years brought trying times, having
the experience of being a cancer patient and receiving treatment
at theStehlin Foundation in 1998. Now, 5 years later in
2003, we were able to celebrate life and survivorship by
chairing the 23rd annual gala.
The 2003 Gala theme, “And the Beat Goes On…”
embraced the Stehlin philosophies of: communication, between
scientist, physician and patient;commitment, to the best
possible care for the patient; research, to eradicate the
disease; education, an award-winning scholarship program
for high school and college students; and “Friends,”
a tradition of raising substantial money while enjoying
a fun event.
Special thanks to all, especially to Mrs. Charline Dauphin,
Dynamic Lanes, The Ellwood Foundation, Susan’s Rally
and Women’s Health Boutique for the generous contributions
that will enable the men and women of the Stehlin Foundation
to continue their efforts in medical research and treatment.
We also want to thank the Friends, who supported the effort
with both their time and money.
The gala raised $550,000, which will help further the work
of the Foundation’s group of doctors and scientists,
who give of themselves to make a difference in the lives
of those facing cancer.
We look forward to the 24th Annual Gala event to be held
on Nov. 6, 2004 at the Hilton Americas Hotel.
Fondly,
Donna and Norman Lewis
