Fashion
and Fundraising for Breast Cancer Angels
 |
Jo Ann McDougal and Margaret Runion, event co-chairs and
owners of Onion Blossoms Boutiques present a check to Dr.
Beppino Giovanella and Dana
Vardeman, Stehlin Foundation cancer researchers.
More than 275 guests supported the Stehlin Foundation for
Cancer Research and honored Annette Williams at the fourth
annual “Angels In Our Midst,” style show and
luncheon at Northwest Forest in Cypress, Texas.
Attendees raised more than $18,000 for cancer research.
Modeling denim to diamonds, thirteen women either battling
breast cancer or who are breast cancer survivors took the
runway in the latest women’s fashions from Onion
Blossoms Boutique.
Guest speaker Kathy LaTour, an author, educator and breast
cancer survivor, presented a message that was humorous,
powerful and personal.
As auctioneer, former KTRK channel 13 anchor Dan Lovett
spurred friendly bidding wars. Attendees also got to try
their luck with raffle prizes including Waterford Crystal
champagne flutes, spa packages and much more.
Onion Blossoms Boutique owners Jo Ann McDougal and Margaret
Runion guided a committee of volunteers who spent countless
hours planning and preparing the special day.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone’s efforts,”
said Dana Vardeman, Stehlin Foundation laboratory supervisor.
“Your support helps the Foundation continue its research.
You give patients and their loved ones the hope of eventually
curing
cancer, while improving the treatment of patients suffering
from cancer today.”
Other major contributors included Bud and Mary Hadfield,
Daina Pitzenberger, CEO of the Women’s Health Boutiques
and Myriad Genetics Laboratory.
Thanks to these generous event underwriters, 100 percent
of the funds raised at “Angels in Our Midst”
will be applied directly to Stehlin Foundation research
that benefits patients with cancer.
